Himawari Daiko

Himawari Daiko is our Taiko Drumming Group for children. Himawari is Japanese for sunflower. It symbolises peace, harmony and the cultural diversity so valued by the school.

Himawari Daiko performs according to the traditions of the ancient Taiko art form and is currently trained by Paulene Thomas who has studied at the Taiko Centre of Kyoto. Traditional Taiko combines rhythm, form, voice and teamwork and is passed on from generation to generation.

Since their formation in March 2002 the group has been very much in demand. They have performed for the Governor, Premier, various Ministers and overseas dignitaries.
