Principals Message

"Welcome to Gilles Street Primary School - "The world in our city school"

Gilles Street Primary School provides quality primary education for students from reception to year 6 in our unique CBD environment. There are two main components to our school, a Mainstream Primary School and the Intensive English Language Program (IELP). The IELP offers intensive English language learning for newly arrived overseas students and for Aboriginal English language learners for a period of 12 months.

We provide a rigorous, purposeful and supportive learning program. We want our students to be curious and effective learners who apply their learning in authentic real world contexts. Experienced and professional staff facilitate a range of learning opportunities to enable all students to flourish academically and in their areas of interest.

The school values of respect, responsibility, resilience, kindness and inclusion are intentionally taught and are seen in practice across the school every day. Quality programs that intentionally build wellbeing and resilience, enable students to understand themselves as learners and make a positive difference now and into the future. We value the partnerships between our parents, staff and students, as through nurturing strong relationships we can provide the best learning outcomes.

Our school attracts students from around the world and our international community represents over 40 different cultural backgrounds. This richness of cultural and learning experiences makes our school a vibrant, diverse and inclusive learning community.
