Gilles Street Primary School is an inner city school of approximately 250 students. The school is located in the South Eastern corner of the CBD and includes an Intensive English Language Program (IELP).

Students attending Gilles Street Primary School engage in learning in an environment that focuses on a cycle of constant improvement in line with the School Learning Plan. Teachers use targeted explicit teaching practices to ensure learning facilitates deep understanding through pedagogical approaches that include explicit direct instruction and inquiry methodologies. We teach our students to be effective learners.



Parents and community value the rich diversity of cultures at Gilles Street. The onsite Intensive English Language Program provides opportunities for students of many different backgrounds to learn and play together and for parents to connect with each other through the Parent and Community Engagement (PaCE) group.

Performing Arts is a strong feature of the school and the annual End of Year Performance, held in the Royalty Theatre on Angas Street, is a major school event.

The school also focuses on specialist teaching areas of Spanish, Physical Education, Science and Digital Technology.

A vibrant OSHC and Vacation Care program provides students with engaging before and after school activities.
