Volunteer Information

Volunteers are an integral part of our school.

Volunteers provide support in many areas and contribute to the success of learning and student wellbeing programs.

There are many areas in which you may consider volunteering your services:

  • Library support
  • Supporting classes on excursions/camps
  • School Council sub-committees e.g. fundraising
  • Circle of friends
If you are interested in volunteering at Gilles Street Primary School please contact the Assistant Principal Wellbeing & Inclusion for further information. A current Working with Children Check (WWCC) is required for volunteers in Department for Education. All police checks for volunteers need to be processed through the Department of Human Services. The school will organise the WWCC for prospective volunteers.

ALL volunteers are required to have completed the Responding to Abuse and Neglect - Education and Care settings and Volunteer Online Training. Each of these courses are only offered online. They are accessible from PLINK. You will need to create an account as a Non-DfE staff member. Once you have done these trainings, you will need to come into school and perform the final requirements which include an induction performed by a member of staff here on site.

The Protective Practices for Staff in their Interactions with Children and Young People guides staff in their interactions and is a document that is made available in the Responding to Abuse and Neglect for Volunteers training.
