Wellbeing at Gilles Street Primary School

At Gilles Street Primary School, student wellbeing is central to everything we do. We are committed to supporting the learning, social and emotional needs of every child by providing a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment where students, staff and families feel valued and connected.

We recognise that students come to school with diverse experiences, strengths and challenges. Our whole-school wellbeing approach is guided by restorative practices and the Berry Street Education Model (BSEM), with consistent implementation by all staff. Through a positive, trauma-informed approach, we explicitly teach social and emotional skills and embed the BSEM five domains (Body, Relationships, Stamina, Engagement and Character) to support students' regulation, resilience, connection and readiness to learn.

Students also have access to our Wellbeing Hub, a calm and supportive regulation space open from 8:30am daily. The Wellbeing Hub provides students with support to settle, reset or re-engage with learning.

Our wellbeing leaders work closely with students, staff and families to provide targeted supports and wellbeing programs, informed by ongoing wellbeing data to continually reflect and improve our practices.
